Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe cracked frames have been exclusively found on 2005 Seagrave Triples with Independent Front Suspension (IFP). Seagrave Fire has provided a solution by fortifying the IFP mounting bracket. The affected apparatus are currently being retrofitted. The 13 new Seagrave Triples have the new bracket installed. The Equipment Engineering Unit is drafting a new Triple specificaiton and contemplating eliminating Independent Front Suspension. Your thoughts?
I understand that the newest Seagraves have a fortified or double-wall frame, while the Pierces have a much thicker frame to begin with. Also, the thought is that the cut-out is to blame for the weakness and subsequent crack- not the suspension. We’ll see.
