Recently, the shops have been painting our apparatus under-carriage. They have been scheduling bi-annual rigs first. Carlos and Scott are our painters. Here are some suggestions and lessons learned from previous companies who have had their rigs painted. They can be extremely valuable… For example
1. How to prep for paint (degreasing)
2. Materials needed
– cleaning solvent
– sand paper / grinder
– scotch brite pads
– foil (lots) this can be very helpful for hoses etc.

The painter did a good job…BUT all his/our prep. work was not enough. Overspray is everywhere. I would suggest taking enough plastic to “COVER THE RIG” to protect all vertical surfaces. Tape off ALL grease fittings. Place tape over Pump Trans visual inspection plug. Try to cover gaps between Pump/Off-side Panels and running boards (diamond plate took a hit) Tape-off/Cover anything you don’t want painted.(Keystone’s,Mirros,ANYTHING Chrome,Hard Suctions,ect.ect.) Good Luck to the next Eng. Co.
